Our new president has only been
in office a few weeks and he is already bombing Iraq. Crazy stuff,
at least it took most other presidents a while to think about it before
actually bombing other countries. What I have trouble understanding
is the reason for the bombing. The U.S bombed Iraq because of an infringement
of the air zone. So why don't we just shoot down their planes? That
sounds like a fair penalty, you want to fly here?...ok, then we shoot
you. Bombing the Iraqis doesn't seem so bad; they actually seem to
like it. It gives the people more reason to hate the U.S., thus more
justification for Saddam to do whatever he wants.
Iraq is really not so bad, sure they persecute the Kurds, but
the Kurds are all really poor so the U.S. has no use for them anyway.
What the U.S. does have is a friend in Iraq, a friend that will
give us good reason to test our weaponry out on it. If the U.S.
really wanted to stop them, we could have taken out the entire army,
air force, navy, and marines of the Iraqis by now, or taken over
the entire country, or liquidated the entire country. If we couldn't
have done that with the immense amount of spending that goes into
the military, something is seriously wrong.
As an American I think that we either use those billions of dollars
to effectively stop our military foes, or use it on something that
will do good like education or research. And as an American, why
can't I vote on this stuff? So as an American I'm not saying you're
wrong George W, I'm just saying that you're on the wrong track. scroll through old stories:
